Washington, DC

I spent the day in downtown Washington, DC, seeing all my favorite monuments.  I had never seen the new Martin Luther King, Jr., one - it was awesome.  It was a beautiful, cool day.

The artist's signature.

All around the monument, there were portions of the speeches Dr. King had given, and the city and state they were given in.

ABE

 KOREAN WAR MEMORIAL

WW II

This memorial is so hard to photograph because it is so massive.

THOMAS JEFFERSON

Besides all the memorials, the National Mall is also just a beautiful place to walk around on a nice day like today!

The Washington Monument is undergoing some kind of renovation, so it has scaffolding all around it.

The Capitol

This is engraved on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.  It's where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous I have a Dream speech.

Some nice fall color.

A sweet little sparrow that sat down next to me.

I love these geese!

Some interesting mushrooms growing!

Washington DC police officers carry around some SERIOUS firepower!

This was amazing.  As I was going into the Lincoln Memorial, a bunch of kids from Birmingham, Alabama, were on the steps singing.  They had amazing voices!
