Edgar Allan Poe's home is located in Philadelphia. It is run by the National Park Service and is free to enter. The little museum is in the front, a house that was previously owned by a neighbor of Poe's. Poe's home is in the back and you can tour it. It was very cool walking through his home. The Raven was written in this home.
The house is very well-kept and is 3 stories. The rooms are all very small with low ceilings.
THE RAVEN
This is the front where you enter the little museum. The National Park folks who work here were very nice and knowledgeable.
The original hardwood floors were beautiful.
These were stairs that lead down to what I called a dungeon. They called it a "cellar". Dungeon / celler - you be the judge!
Dungeon or Cellar?
The outside door leading down to the dungeon.
This home is located in a section of Philadelphia that has a lot of projects. Philadelphia is known for its murals. To cut down on graffiti, they encourage the people who live in this area to paint murals that are representative of the neighborhood. This is one such mural. It is on an apartment building next to Poe's home.
Me and Edgar. (I'm the dumb-looking one!)
